Frequently Asked Questions

  • At Send Hope Now, we intentionally operate with a small staff and minimal overhead to ensure maximum funds reach our ministry in India. While this means our website doesn't have all the features of larger nonprofits, it allows us to be excellent stewards of your donations.

We also believe every child is created in God's image and deserves a sponsor. Rather than creating a "shopping" experience, we trust that God guides the matching process between sponsors and children. When you request to sponsor a child, we prayerfully connect you with a child who needs support.

Thank you for trusting us with this sacred responsibility.

  • There are various reasons why a child may leave our Home of Hope in India, such as family reunification, transitioning to independent living after completing their education, or other circumstances that arise. Unlike many orphanages where children must leave at age 18, we continue supporting our students through college or trade school via our Higher Education fund. This program is vital to our mission because college or trade school education is essential for breaking the cycle of poverty that these children were born into.

When your sponsored child leaves, we will notify you by email and send a detailed letter explaining the specific circumstances. You will automatically be matched with a new child in need of sponsorship within the coming weeks. During this transition period, your monthly donation continues supporting the many unsponsored children in our homes, ensuring no child goes without care.

We understand that forming a connection with your sponsored child is meaningful, and we're committed to keeping you informed throughout any transition. The Higher Education program represents hope for a transformed future—giving these young adults the skills and credentials they need to secure meaningful employment and build stable lives for themselves and their future families. If you have questions about your child's situation or would like to learn more about supporting our Higher Education fund, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Your faithful partnership allows us to provide stability and hope for children during all stages of their journey, from their arrival at our homes through their transition to independent, successful lives that break generational cycles of poverty.

  • At Send Hope Now, we don't have a traditional "aging out" policy like most orphanages that require children to leave at 18. Instead, we support each child until they're truly ready for independent living.

Our children typically remain in our care through the completion of their education. Those pursuing higher education or trade school through our Higher Education program can stay well into their twenties while completing their degrees or vocational training.

For children in our HIV care program, the transition may take even longer due to unique challenges in India. Since employers can request medical records before hiring, individuals with HIV often face employment discrimination despite their qualifications. Others may be too sick to work consistently. We remain committed to caring for these individuals for as long as needed.

The exact age varies based on each child's educational path, health needs, and readiness for independence. Our goal is ensuring each young person has the education, skills, and support needed for self-sufficient living—or continues receiving our care when independence isn't possible due to health or discrimination challenges.

This approach is central to breaking the generational cycles of poverty while providing long-term care for society's most vulnerable individuals.

  • All correspondence with your sponsored child or pastor must go through Send Hope Now channels for several important reasons:

    Child Safety & Protection

Sharing personal contact information (phone numbers, email addresses, social media, or home addresses) with sponsored children puts them at risk. Our established communication channels provide essential safeguards that protect the children in our care from potential exploitation or harm.

    Ministry Integrity

Direct communication bypasses critical oversight, which ensures that all interactions remain appropriate and beneficial. Our staff reviews all correspondence to maintain healthy, safe relationships between sponsors and those they support.

    Staff & Program Security

Protecting contact information helps safeguard our local staff and maintains the security of our ministry operations in regions where Christian work can face challenges and persecution.

    Financial Protection

Direct communication can lead to inappropriate financial requests or misunderstandings that can harm both sponsors and recipients. All legitimate needs are addressed through our established support systems and proper channels.

    How Communication Works:

        •    Send letters and photos through Send Hope Now

        •    All correspondence is translated and delivered safely

        •    We facilitate meaningful connections while maintaining appropriate boundaries

Your cooperation with these guidelines demonstrates your heart to protect those we serve together and ensures the safety and integrity of our ministry for everyone involved.

  • International shipping to India is extremely expensive and unreliable. Packages often get lost, delayed, or held up in customs, meaning your gift may never reach your sponsored child.

For the safety and security of our ministry operations, we have a different process that works much better. When you designate funds for your child's birthday or Christmas gift, we send those funds to our staff in India. They then lovingly purchase age-appropriate, culturally relevant gifts locally for your sponsored child.

    This approach ensures:

        •    Your gift actually reaches your child

        •    The gift is appropriate for their culture and needs

        •    Our ministry operations remain secure

        •    Your donation goes further (no expensive shipping costs)

Your designated gift funds are used entirely for your child's gift, and our staff takes great care in selecting something special that will bring joy to your sponsored child.

  • No, not all the children in our Homes of Hope are full orphans, approximately ½ of the children in our care are. The children we serve come from a variety of vulnerable situations:

    • Some are full orphans with no living parents

    • Some have parents who love them but are living in extreme poverty and cannot afford to provide proper care or education for them

    • Some have single parents who must work very low wage jobs and have no one to care for their children

    • Some have lost their parents but may have relatives who cannot or will not take them in

    • Some come from families facing extreme poverty, illness, or other crises that make caring for their children impossible

What all these children have in common is their need for a safe home, nutritious meals, education, and loving care. Regardless of their specific circumstances, each child in our Homes of Hope is vulnerable and in need of the stability, protection, and hope that sponsorship provides.

When you sponsor a child, you're not just supporting an orphan—you're supporting a vulnerable child who needs the same things every child deserves: safety, love, education, and the opportunity for a bright future.

  • Children with HIV/AIDS in our Homes of Hope receive comprehensive, specialized care designed to help them live healthy, full lives. Our care includes:

Medical Care: We have in-home nurses who provide daily medical support to all children with HIV. Many of these nurses are former students from our programs who earned nursing degrees and now give back by serving the children in our homes.

Medication Management: The Indian government provides Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) tablets that help combat the disease. Our in-home nurses ensure that each child takes their ART medication every day, which is critical for managing HIV and maintaining their health.

Nutritional Support: We provide nutritious meals specifically designed to support the effectiveness of the ART medication. Proper nutrition is essential for children with HIV to maintain their immune systems and overall health.

Ongoing Monitoring: Our medical team closely monitors each child's health and progress, adjusting care as needed to ensure they receive the best possible treatment.

This comprehensive approach allows children with HIV/AIDS to not only survive but thrive, attend school, and look forward to a hopeful future. Many go on to pursue higher education through our programs, breaking cycles of poverty and stigma.

  • Send Hope Now offers two types of trips to India each year, each with a distinct purpose:

India Pastors Conference Trip (November, open to pastors and ministry leaders only): This trip focuses on putting on two pastors conferences in Northern and Southern India. Participants teach, attend sessions, and partner with local pastors, who are at the heart of our work throughout the 10 states where we operate.

Hearts United Trip (February and September, open to all donors and supporters): True to its name, this trip is about mutual encouragement between believers. It's less of a traditional mission trip and more of an opportunity for mutual accountability and encouragement.

For our donors, the Hearts United trip provides transparency—you can see firsthand where your funds are being used and witness the impact of your support. For our team in India, receiving visitors shows them they have people on the other side of the world who genuinely care about them and their work.

The mutual blessing is profound. When traveling to India and witnessing the amazing work God is doing—seeing lives transformed by the hope of Jesus—our donors return home deeply encouraged with renewed passion for supporting this ministry. Meanwhile, our Indian partners are uplifted, knowing they're not forgotten but celebrated by a global community of believers.

Both trips strengthen the bonds that make our work possible and remind us all that we're part of something much bigger than ourselves.
